Jeff Lee Kitchen @ Kampong Baru Sungai Buloh
Tucked away in a small village just outside the city here was my next stop for a splendid dinner. Yes another food trail. This time we make a visit to a small village called Kampong Baru Sungai Buloh. Hidden in the centre of the village, that is where we located Jeff Lee Kitchen thanked to our food guide. The more I get to indulge the Chinese food, I came to realise my taste platter became much more sharper then before. Sense fo taste and knowledge had improved drasticly.
I would place Jeff Lee Kitchen yet with a modern tag name, it churns out truly authentic Chinese food. A very refined home cooking with a fabulous menu and yet an interesting way of indulging. It has it’s own identity and style. It’s so adoreable. Yet simple and unique.
Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leafs with Whole Garlic
First came the stir fried sweet potato leafs with whole garlic. A very well timed dish. Cooked to tenderness and crisp with such great taste. Not undercooked. Not overcooked. It was such a great pleasure having it.
This time we opted of not having white rice and we ordered the house specialty, Claypot Pig Innard Porridge. It was smooth and well seasoned. Delicious crispy deep fried pig intestine was present. I like the style of eatnig especially having being served with porridge instead of rice. Excellent.
I just love the next dish. simple yet bursting with taste. A pan fried grass pawns with supreme soy sauce. The grass prawns were crispy and I even ate them intact with the shell itself. Just fabulous. Laced with sweet supreme soy, it truly enhance the flavour without any of a doubt. It was superb. Jive well with the porridge.
Stir Fried Bitter Gourd with Salted Egg White
Next came a very home cooked dish, stir fried sliced bitter gourd with salt egg white. It was really good and I in love with it. Cooked to crunchiness with a taste of saltiness. It had a strong beautiful flavour of a firing wok “Wok Hei”. Yet simple but delicious. Fabulous.
Steamed Chicken with Young Ginger Dip
The steamed chicken came next. Beautifully presented filled with bright yellow in colour. A very eye catching dish. It was good, the chicken was left with great tenderness. For me I find it just a bit blend to my taste as I prefer my ginger dip to be stronger in taste and bold flavour just like the one I had at Moon Sing. Here Jeff Lee had kept it slightly light. It was good.
Stir Fried Crispy Pork Belly with Sweet Dark Soy Sauce
Oh my. The best always kept for the last as they say. That night I had another terrific pork belly dish. Yes they too had it thinly sliced. Yes again, they had them cripy fried. Here they have them coated with delicious sweet dark sauce and stir fried till caramelised, It was sup[erb and left me speechless. Got to repot, I had an additonal small bowl of white rice to go with it, it was so irresistable. Spot on.
We also oredered their stir fried Udon with a hint of black pepper and also their famous poached egg noodle topped with minced pork. Both was perfectly prpeared, very good and just delicious.
Poached Egg Noodles topped with Minced Pork
Stumbled onto Jeff Lee was such an amazing eating experience and I will be back for more different enjoyment. I will be eyeing at their “Poon Choy” or one pot dish filled with layers of delcious dishes {mille savoury gourmet) and also their famous cold “paku” green fern dish . . . . . . . . . . . . worth every penny, yet affordable, Sidney Kan
